Clinical Supervisor & Substance Abuse Specialist

We are all in a place of healing. Ushering continued grace and compassion to our own personal life experiences and traumas that we hold in our bodies. Creating forgiveness for ourselves and seeing our own beauty can get lost in our past trials and traumas. From a Caribbean descent, I have faced my own undoings in life and I believe in steps towards healing. I am an independent licensed clinical social worker, experienced in assisting adults, teens, and families addressing various emotional issues. I specialize in substance use including anxiety and depression. We will focus on helping individuals create a plan to address substance abuse as well as preventing addiction and relapse. Let me provide a safe and non-judgmental environment in which you can explore and identify these issues. No two persons are the same. Every approach is always an individualized approach grounded in evidence based practice that is tailored to your specific needs. We will explore the challenges of transitioning to new life roles. By engaging in motivational interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. My goal is to help provide you with the tools you need to move beyond old, limiting beliefs and behaviors.

I am passionate about creating space for clients from diverse backgrounds and cultures, to share freely who you are, being able to explore your values, feelings, and thoughts within an authentic and accepting environment. I believe we each have many layers that influence how we experience the world and our lives. My areas of expertise include addressing depression/anxiety, adjustment to college, grief, life transitions & stress related issues, finding existential meaning/life purpose, psychedelic integration (post experience with the medicine) and LGBTQIA+ together with related issues of marginalization and familial expectations. I use a trauma-informed holistic approach and draw from a variety of modalities to best meet your needs. I incorporate practical skills from DBT, systems theory, and parts work (IFS) as well as an existential and transpersonal approach to work with the spiritual aspects of your development and soul purpose (if that is meaningful for you). Therapy is about creating and supporting a safe, non-judgmental therapeutic relationship that facilitates your journey as you claim your power and voice. My role within that relationship is to aid and encourage you to grow in new and meaningful ways while helping you to discover your best self.

Raised in Cayey, Puerto Rico, I am fluent in both English and Spanish. I have worked as a clinician providing outpatient therapy services in private and community mental health settings, supporting various populations, including veteran families (like my own), caregivers, women, children, adults, Latinx, BIPOC individuals, and the LGBTQIA+ community. I have a particular interest in addressing burnout, anxiety, self-esteem issues, grief and loss, attachment injuries, and traumatic experiences. I also believe in empowering people to challenge barriers and oppressive systems so that they can find purpose, meet their goals, and live meaningful lives while ensuring their preservation of culture, autonomy, language, identity, and expression. My approach is rooted in intersectionality, social justice, and decolonial frameworks. I use a relational, person-centered approach and combine modalities of CBT for depression and anxiety, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Clinical Complex Trauma, DBT skills (certification), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Level 1 (trained), and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) (trained). I earned a Bachelor of Social Work from Western New Mexico University, and a Master of Social Work from Smith College School for Social Work.

I believe that all individuals have the potential for incredible growth and change. My aim is to create a safe and supportive space where, with compassion and kind curiosity, we can work together to gain new insights into your experiences and develop skills to help you move forward. Our unique identities and cultural backgrounds profoundly influence our lives and perspectives, so my approach will always be holistic: to look beyond symptoms to truly understand and support the whole person in all their complexities. My role is to help clients know and value their authentic selves, identify what drives their thinking and behavior, recognize their abilities, and move confidently toward their goals. Within this framework, I favor integrated cognitive-behavioral therapies that emphasize mindfulness and acceptance components and are individualized to meet the needs of each person. I welcome work with all clients and have a particular interest in working with those with medical disabilities and/or chronic illnesses.

Life is a journey filled with many different paths, and almost everyone's goal is to find fulfillment. Some paths may bring spiritual enlightenment, other paths may lead us to be a CEO of a fortune five hundred company. Regardless of the differences, we can all agree that life presents challenges, sometimes even roadblocks. It’s not that we aren’t aware of what we want to achieve, we just become a little weary along the way, and our vision becomes blurry.I’ve experienced the challenges of being successful in my profession as a Social Worker for the past ten years while yet still being actively involved in the lives of my children, and being a dutiful and loving spouse. It was through the assistance of another caring person, who came alongside me in my journey, and reassured me that my experience does not have to be identical to anyone else's. That statement was freeing. I believe that life coaching provides that freedom for us. My ultimate goal is to create a partnership with the clients who are invested in achieving their goal(s). Through collaborating with you in the development of creating a positive framework for your success.
