We are all in a place of healing. Ushering continued grace and compassion to our own personal life experiences and traumas that we hold in our bodies. Creating forgiveness for ourselves and seeing our own beauty can get lost in our past trials and traumas. From a Caribbean descent, I have faced my own undoings in life and I believe in steps towards healing. I am an independent licensed clinical social worker, experienced in assisting adults, teens, and families addressing various emotional issues. I specialize in substance use including anxiety and depression. We will focus on helping individuals create a plan to address substance abuse as well as preventing addiction and relapse. Let me provide a safe and non-judgmental environment in which you can explore and identify these issues. No two persons are the same. Every approach is always an individualized approach grounded in evidence based practice that is tailored to your specific needs. We will explore the challenges of transitioning to new life roles. By engaging in motivational interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. My goal is to help provide you with the tools you need to move beyond old, limiting beliefs and behaviors.

Life is a journey filled with many different paths, and almost everyone's goal is to find fulfillment. Some paths may bring spiritual enlightenment, other paths may lead us to be a CEO of a fortune five hundred company. Regardless of the differences, we can all agree that life presents challenges, sometimes even roadblocks. It’s not that we aren’t aware of what we want to achieve, we just become a little weary along the way, and our vision becomes blurry.I’ve experienced the challenges of being successful in my profession as a Social Worker for the past ten years while yet still being actively involved in the lives of my children, and being a dutiful and loving spouse. It was through the assistance of another caring person, who came alongside me in my journey, and reassured me that my experience does not have to be identical to anyone else's. That statement was freeing. I believe that life coaching provides that freedom for us. My ultimate goal is to create a partnership with the clients who are invested in achieving their goal(s). Through collaborating with you in the development of creating a positive framework for your success.
Marlaine Dervanil

Rooted in my Haitian heritage, I deeply value community support and find joy in actively participating in and contributing to various community initiatives. Immigrating to the United States brought significant challenges, which fostered a strong commitment in me to advocate for and assist those without a voice. My journey has been marked by unique experiences that have propelled both personal and communal growth. As a mother, I am dedicated to teaching my children the importance of diversity and acceptance, highlighting the golden rule of treating others with the respect we desire for ourselves. The challenges I faced have honed my skills, making me more effective in my role. With over a decade in my administrative position, I am proud to manage operations smoothly and efficiently, ensuring productivity.

Every day teaches us something new. As an aspiring mental health worker, I divide and conquer my efforts through my passions. While my day-to-day is working as a Developmental Therapist Associate in birth to three, my creativity extends here at MCS to help grow our network, curate platforms for our voices, and garner trust in our audiences as we bring them into our safe spaces. I hope to use my Spanish language and my identity as a bisexual Latina to explore meaningful conversations using trusted resources publicly

Through the use of trauma-attuned care and gentle exploration, I encourage clients to “feel the feels” and reclaim their role as the narrator of their life story. I believe it is never too late for a plot twist. My specialties include the integration of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and relational—cultural perspectives. From a social justice and person-in-environment framework, I assist clients in identifying Social Determinants of Health (SDOHs) that have impacted their development, and explore ways to thrive in inequitable conditions. Prior to earning my Master of Social Work (MSW) from Westfield State University, I earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Nonprofit Management from Springfield College, and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Integrated Liberal Studies from Western New England University (WNEU). My background also includes therapeutic work with justice-involved individuals and/or clients with substance use disorders (SUDs). I am also well-versed in harm reduction best practices.

We are all one step away from the next unexpected crisis or life-affirming experience; its outcomes are ultimately determined by how we perceive and move through or around each situation. As a long-standing mental health practitioner and social worker, I would love to offer you a therapeutic space that helps you bear witness to, contemplate, and even begin to address safely and at a self-driven pace the reason you seek therapy in the first place that contributions to your current circumstances or compromises your ability to live a life of purpose, value, and belonging. My therapeutic style is relational, psychodynamic, behavioral, trauma-informed, and culturally oriented. It is infused with the use of psychodynamic theory, trauma-informed therapy, cognitive-behavioral, narrative therapy, motivational interviewing, and relational-cultural therapeutic approaches based on the growing and ever-changing needs and presenting problem(s) of the individual, family, group, or couple; I get the privilege to support. Individual, family, couples, and group therapy are areas that I have focused on in my two-decade career, working with people throughout their lifespan- children, families, adults, working professionals, geriatrics, etc. My primary focus is to help foster a therapeutic alliance with each person I work with and use that relationship to cultivate new ideas, interventions, change agents, and healing. I'd like to discuss whether my therapeutic approach fits within your therapy need(s). I look forward to talking with you to see if I can help. I leave you with one thing to consider from the wise words of Brene Brown: "Our job is not to deny the story, but to deny the ending—to rise strong and rumble with the truth until we get to a place where we think, yes, this is what happened, and I will choose how the story ends."

As a mental health therapist of Palestinian descent, my personal experiences profoundly shape my approach to therapy. Growing up as a child of displaced parents and grandparents, I intimately understand the feelings of disconnect from self that can arise in new environments. This background fuels my passion for helping individuals to navigate and find meaning in their lives. Feeling stuck, frozen, or disconnected can be a natural reaction to the world we find ourselves in. I’d like to support you in working through these feelings and to help you reclaim a life that is more connected to who you truly are. My approach starts with compassion and is shaped by understanding how trauma, identity, culture, and oppression affect who we are in today’s society. Together, we’ll center your unique experience to practice liberating ourselves from harmful systems and navigate the challenges that come with your intersectional identities. In our work together, my goal is to create a warm, authentic, and judgment-free space where you can express yourself without the need to filter your thoughts and emotions. I bring a calm energy and strive to make you feel as comfortable and present as possible in this space. I believe that true growth happens through cultivating relationships where you’re able to be vulnerable and honest with yourself and others. I am especially passionate about working with the MENA (Middle Eastern and North African) community. My Arab upbringing gives me a deep cultural understanding of the unique challenges faced by those with this background. I also have a special interest in supporting athletes of color, recognizing the distinct struggles they encounter both on and off the field and the mental exhaustion that comes with that. Together, we can begin this journey to uncover your roots, explore the impact of your experiences, and create a life more empowered and connected to who you are. I am dedicated to be here with you through this time.

I am a second-year graduate student in counseling psychology who moved from Spain at the age of 17. Throughout these years, openness has become one of my core values because I have been immersed in new ideas, beliefs, opinions, cultures, and identities, making me who I currently am: an empathetic, kind, and non-judgmental person and counselor. I have learned that every human being is unique and that there is no universal reality because we see and interact with the world through our own lenses, built with our backgrounds and experiences. In this way, I believe it is essential to be culturally humble by acknowledging our differences and biases and focusing on what YOU value. You are the expert in the room because no one knows you better than yourself. I strive to create an honest, supportive, and safe space because I deeply care about building a strong and genuine relationship. In our work together, we will embark on a journey of life where we accept personal, interpersonal, and sociocultural blocks, and explore and build upon your strengths to try to become the best version of yourself. Based on my identities and academic and personal background, I am passionate about working with individuals of diverse backgrounds, especially with the LGBTQIA+ and the Latinx/Hispanic community, as well as with athletes whose performance is affected by their mental health. My native languages are Spanish and Catalan and I am proficient in English.

I believe that all individuals have the potential for incredible growth and change. My aim is to create a safe and supportive space where, with compassion and kind curiosity, we can work together to gain new insights into your experiences and develop skills to help you move forward. Our unique identities and cultural backgrounds profoundly influence our lives and perspectives, so my approach will always be holistic: to look beyond symptoms to truly understand and support the whole person in all their complexities. My role is to help clients know and value their authentic selves, identify what drives their thinking and behavior, recognize their abilities, and move confidently toward their goals. Within this framework, I favor integrated cognitive-behavioral therapies that emphasize mindfulness and acceptance components and are individualized to meet the needs of each person. I welcome work with all clients and have a particular interest in working with those with medical disabilities and/or chronic illnesses.
